Therapy Services
At JRC Counselling, I provide therapy services for teenagers, adults, couples, and families. My services include traditional therapy using a Narrative Therapy framework, coupled with Solution Focused Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioural therapy. I also apply a trauma informed and multicultural approach. I believe in working collaboratively with my clients to help them achieve their goals and overcome their challenges.
Narrative Therapy
Narrative therapy is a form of therapy that focuses on the stories we tell about ourselves and our experiences. By exploring and re-framing these stories, we can create new meanings and perspectives that can lead to positive change.
Solution Focused Therapy
Solution-focused therapy is a goal-oriented approach that focuses on finding solutions to current problems rather than dwelling on past issues. By identifying and building on strengths and resources, we can help clients achieve their desired outcomes.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a type talk therapy that focuses on the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. It is based the idea that negative thoughts and beliefs can lead to negative emotions and behaviours. CBT aims to help individuals identify and challenge these negative patterns, and replace them with more positive and adaptive. It has been shown to be effective treating a wide range of mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Trauma Informed Approach
Trauma-informed therapy is an approach that recognizes the widespread impact of trauma on individuals and aims to create a safe and supportive environment for healing. It emphasizes the importance of understanding the unique experiences and needs of each person and prioritizes their autonomy and empowerment. This approach also acknowledges the role of trauma in shaping behaviors and responses, and seeks to promote resilience and growth through a collaborative and strengths-based approach.
My Approach
At JRC Counselling, I believe in a client-centered approach that is tailored to each individual's unique needs and goals. I strive to create a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. My goal is to help clients develop new insights, skills, and strategies that can lead to positive change and a more fulfilling life.
I recognize the importance of valuing my clients' unique perspective and framework for their life. This means employing a multicultural lens and acknowledging how life experiences and trauma have impacted each client and their world view. I help clients to find and leverage their strengths and resources to aid them in their healing, journey, goal setting and personal growth.
